Birthday cards can be so much fun to make! Todays project features printed card stock from Doodlebug Designs, stamps from Denami Design and a set of dies from Sizzix. There are a lot of companies that I love using when I make cards and these 3 are definitely among my favorites! One thing that I like about these companies in particular is how well their products work together, which you will see here and in future posts. When I start a project I always start with stamping and coloring my images first. I stamped all of my images on 110 lb white card stock from Michaels. I have a lot of scraps so I always try to use those first and these stamps are perfect for that. After stamping and coloring my images, I die cut all of the pieces needed for the card. This includes the stamped images that I have colored in. The Sizzix die set has 3 main dies that need to be cut out to assemble the card. You can choose the other pieces that you wish to use for the card. For my stamped images I chose to use one of the scalloped circles, as you can see in the picture above. I used my Sizzix Big Kick machine, but you can also use the Big Shot or the Vagabond, to die cut all the pieces. In the above picture you see the 3 main pieces needed to assemble the card which are cut from the 3 main dies in the Sizzix die set. It is easy to tell which 3 dies are the main dies, it is the 3 largest dies. In the picture below you can see the 3 pieces assembled together to make your base card. Before I put on the smaller pieces, I realized that I wanted to add a little sparkle and shine to the card. To do do this I used my Zig Wink of Stella marker in clear. This product is a brush marker that has a hint of glitter in the ink. I love this marker because it adds enough glitter to sparkle but the glitter will not come off. I used this on the ice cream, balloons, icing and heart on the 4 stamped images below. It is hard to see in picture but it is there. I promise! To add shine, I added Ranger Glossy Accents on to the balloons. I love how the Wink of Stella glitter looks with Glossy Accents on top of it! Again I promise it is there in the pictures! Now comes the fun part of putting it all together! I do recommend folding the score lines that the die made for you before you add the stamped images. With the panel side of your card facing up (as shown 2 pictures above) adhere the present, balloon and party hat to the center of the semi circles using your Scotch ATG Gun or other adhesive. Now flip over your card and adhere the chickies to the center of the semi circles using the foam square adhesive. Now all that is left to stamp the “happy birthday” sentiment on the larger balloon panel and to add the Doodlebug sprinkles to the corners. Your card is now ready to be given to one lucky person! I hope that you enjoyed this project and I look forward to sharing another project with you! Below is a list of the materials used for this project and links to purchase them.
