DeNami Designs Sneak Peek #3: Summer Delights!

Summer is here! Time to go to the beach or the pool and just chill! In the new release Nami out did herself with the summer themed stamps and the Poolside Owl is one of my favorite! When I saw this cutie, I thought it was time to try a new to me technique, no line watercoloring. This is my first attempt at this technique but I think it came out pretty good!BeachsideOwl-1

I have watched many videos on YouTube on how to do this technique but I like watching Kristina Werner’s (you can visit her blog by clicking on her name) videos the most for this technique. The watercolor paper that I used for this project is some that I had purchased at Michael’s. Also, used a waterbrush and many different colors of Distress Inks. To stamp the images so that you get a light image to color in I used Antique Linen. This ink is very light and works well for this technique. I stamped out my entire scene using the Antique Linen ink. Next, I squished a couple of the colors that I was using on an acrylic block and used my waterbrush to color in small areas of the scene. It is very important that you work on one area at a time and that the areas that you work on aren’t touching otherwise you risk the colors running together. For example, I colored in one seashell and then the chair that the owl is sitting in and then another seashell and then the umbrella. I worked around the entire scene and did touch ups where needed. I let it dry completely overnight and came back the next day to finish the card. I stamped the greeting in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink and ran the panel through my Big Shot with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die. I adhered the panel with Tombow Extreme Adhesive to an A2 card base. I love this card and wish I was sitting on the beach somewhere listening to waves! See you tomorrow!
