DeNami Birthday Party Treat Box

Hi Everyone! Elizabeth here with a project for any birthdays you might have this year. Give your guests a little treat in these cute little pillow boxes that are easy to make and don’t take a lot of time.

BirthdayTreatBox

I decided to go with a summer theme for this box since it’s so hot outside and chose a summer plaid pattern paper From Lawn Fawns Perfectly Plaid collection and used the Lawn Fawn Pillow Box die. Assembling the pillow box is easy because all the score lines are made when you run the die through your machine. I used a liquid adhesive but you can also a tape runner. Next, I stamped 3 of the images from the Happy Desserts stamp set and Happy Birthday in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink and used Copic markers to color in the images. I punched out everything with a scalloped circle punch and adhered the circle to the pillow box with some liquid glue. All together this project took approximately 10 minutes. It would be very easy to make a bunch of them at once for a party and shouldn’t take very long. I hope that this project inspires you to use your stamps for more than just cards!

DeNami Design Surprise Monster Birthday Shaker Card!

Hi Everyone! Elizabeth here with a fun surprise birthday card! I decided to shake things up a little with this card and have the main scene be in the inside of the card with window that you can get glimpse that there’s something inside.

To create this card I stamped the window on some green pattern cardstock from Lawn Fawns Polka in the Meadow and fussy cut it out and used a knife to cut out the inside. You don’t have to use pattern cardstock for the window. You can also stamp it on colored cardstock or white cardstock and color it in. I chose the fast and easy way of the pattern cardstock. Next, I die cut the yellow pattern cardstock, also from Lawn Fawn, with a stitched rectangle die from Simon Says Stamp. While I had the die out I went ahead and used it on some white cardstock for the inside panel. I stamped the white panel with the Happy Monster Party stamp and Happy Birthday in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink and then colored in the monsters with Copic markers. To line everything up I held up the stamped panel with the yellow panel in front and then the window in front of a good light source so that I could see the monsters. I lined up the opening of the window with the monsters and carefully used some washi tape to hold the window where I wanted it. I used a knife to cut out the opening using the window as guide. Do the same thing with the card base and you are ready for assembly. To create the shaker part used very thin double sided tape and adhered the acetate to the back of the window. Then, I used foam tape to create the well for the sequins and adhered another piece of acetate. I attached the panel on the inside of the card and the yellow panel on the front of the card being careful to line up the openings. Lastly, I added the shaker window to the front of the card. I hope that you enjoyed this card and it inspires you to think outside of the box when it comes to your stamps and cards!

DeNami Design Teacher Card

Hi Everyone! Elizabeth here with a great thank you card for your kids teachers! It’s fast and simple so you can make one for each teacher.

To create the card I stamped the Apple Basket, Thanks a Bunch and the apple from Happy Fruit in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink. To color the apple basket and the apple I did very simple Copic shading coloring by using only 2 shades of each color (see supplies listed below for colors used). Underneath the apple basket and apple I used a light grey to ground the images so it didn’t look like they were floating in space. I used 2 of the rectangle stitched dies from Simon Says Stamp to die cut the panel I stamped on and the plaid paper from Lawn Fawns Perfectly Plaid collection. Next, I adhered the plaid panel to my base and then offset the stamped panel to add some interest. I hope that this card inspires you pull out your stamps and make some thank you cards for kids teachers!

DeNami Design Noah’s Ark Shaker Card

Hi Everyone! Elizabeth here with another fun project for DeNami Designs! Todays project is my absolute favorite kind of project! Shaker Cards! I love making shaker cards! They are so fun and easy to make!

For this shaker card I used a gender neutral plaid from Lawn Fawn’s Perfectly Plaid 6×6 pack, so that this card can be for someone expecting a boy or girl baby, or even twins. I used a frame die from Taylored Expressions Frame in Frame die set to create the shaker frame and kept the inside piece to use as the background in the shaker, that way I’m not wasting any paper! I stamped Congratulations on the background piece in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink. Next, I cut a piece of acetate just slightly smaller than the frame and used a Scor Tape to adhere the acetate to the frame. Then I cut some Scotch foam tape to go around the frame and adhered it the frame making sure that I didn’t leave any gaps in between the foam tape so that the sequins couldn’t escape. I set this aside to work on the ark. I stamped the Noah’s Ark on some white cardstock with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink. I kept the coloring fairly simple with Copic markers. For the zebra, I used a very light grey and very light blue on top of each other and then went over that with the colorless blender to lighten it some more. This gives the effect of some shadow and the zebra still looks white. For the lion, I colored him in a yellow and then for his mane, I used a darker yellow that has hint of orange and brown, and flicked the color on his mane. Next, I fussy cut the ark out and to give it a finished look, I went around the edges, from the back, with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker. By doing this from the back, if I slipped then the black would be on the back of the ark instead of on the front! I adhered the ark to the frame with Scor Tape and Zots Bling Dots. To make the card, I adhered the background to a top folding A2 card base with Tombow tape runner after carefully lining everything up. Next, I lay out my Doodlebug sequins on the card and spread them out over the background. I like to place the frame over the sequins to get an idea of whether or not I need to add more sequins and if so which color. Once I have the right amount of sequins, I carefully line up the frame with the background and adhere the frame to the card base.

I loved making this card! I hope that it inspires you create some shaker cards! Until next time!

DeNami Design: Missing You 3D Frame Card

Hi Everyone! Elizabeth here with another cute card for DeNami Design! This week is about adding some dimension to your cards. For my card I went back to my style of keeping it simple and easy!

The dimension on this card is in the frame. To create my card, I first die cut my frame from Taylored Expressions Frame in Frame die set out of pink paper from the Doodlebug Sugar Shoppe 6×6 pack. I then die cut the frame 3 times out of white cardstock and I made sure that I kept the center piece from one of those pieces to do my stamping on. Next, I stamped the Happy Daisy, Happy Flower Pot and Missing You on the piece that I kept in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink. I kept the coloring simple for the flower and pot and did no shading Copic coloring (see supplies list below for colors). So that the flower and pot weren’t just floating around on the panel, I anchored them by coloring some grey across the bottom and some shading for the pot and flower. I set this aside while I worked on the rest of the card. I trimmed my pattern paper from the same Doodlebug pack down to 4”x5.25” and adhered that to a top folding A2 card base using Tombow runner. Next, I adhered all the frames together using Tombow liquid glue and stacking them on top of each other with the pink one on top. The 3D frame is adhered to the flower pattern paper using liquid glue. Next, I added some liquid glue to back of the panel with the pot and flower and placed it inside the frame. I like to use liquid glue for this so that I can shift it around a little bit before it dries. The key is to put on a small amount of glue, otherwise your cardstock will warp. To finish the card, I used a Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen and added some glitter to the flower. I tried to get a good picture with the sparkle but it’s very hard to capture that sparkle! I hope that my card inspires you to add some dimension to your cards! Until next time!

DeNami Designs Sneak Peek #4: Outdoor Adventure!

Hi Everyone! Welcome to day 4 of DeNami’s Sneak Peek Week on my blog! The theme for today is Outdoor Adventures. For this project I decided to do a nice simple card. As you can tell, I like simple cards that don’t take long to make!

OwlwithFlower

Ever since I found the best cardstock for ink blending, I have been obsessed with ink blending! For me the best cardstock is Strathmore Bristol Smooth. The smooth surface really allows the ink to go on easy and blend easily as well. Now, I have not tried ink blending with other inks besides the Distress Inks but I have a feeling this cardstock will work well with other inks. To create this card, I stamped the owl with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink and very, very carefully blended the sky and grass background around the owl. In hind sight I should have created a mask for the owl and then did the ink blending but I REALLY hate to fussy cut and I was being lazy. After I blended the background, I sprayed it with the Distress Sprayer filled with water and picked up the water with a clean paper towel to get the splatter effect. Next, I colored in the owl with Copic markers and stamped the greeting in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink. After that, I die cut the panel with a Mama Elephant Framed Tags Madison Avenue frame die and kept the frame piece to layer the yellow polka dot frame on top of to add a little dimension to the card. I adhered the frames with Tombow Lquid Gel glue to the A2 card base and used Tombow Extreme Adhesive for the panel. This card will make anyone smile! See you tomorrow!

DeNami Design Sneak Peek #2: Yummy Food

Hi Everyone! Welcome to day 2 of DeNami Designs Sneak Peek Week! Todays theme is yummy food. Nami created some really cute food theme stamps for this release and as soon as I saw the hamburger and fries I knew what I created for my project.

This card is fairly simple and easy to make. The first thing I did was some ink blending on Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock and used my Distress Sprayer to create the splatter look. Next, I die cut it with Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Duo 2 dies. I stamped the sentiment at the bottom using Versafine Onyx black ink. To line up where I was going to stamp the hamburgers and fries, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to go underneath the top panel and lightly traced circles with a pencil. The hamburgers and fries were stamped in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink and colored in with Copic markers. In my stash, I found some polka dot pattern paper and trimmed it down to be bottom panel of my card. I used my Tombow tape runner to adhere the hamburger and fries to the polka dots and Scotch foam tape to adhere the top panel. This card is cute and fun to give to a friend or someone special! See you tomorrow!

DeNami Design Sneak Peek Day 1: All About Owls

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the first day of DeName Design Sneak Peek Week! Today the theme is “All About Owls”! If you have been following DeNami you know that she makes the most adorable owls. I love her owls and the designs that she comes up with are so unique and her style is so cute!

For my project, I decided to use the new Medium Birthday Owl! He is so cute holding the balloon and wearing his party hat! I wanted to make something really colorful and do I different technique for my background. The background of my card is made with Distress inks and I applied them with the Mini Ink Blender Tool(see the supply list below for the colors that I used) on to Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock. After I blended my background, I took a Heidi Swapp Stencil that had small dots and placed it over my blended panel and sprayed it with water. I dabbed it with a paper towel after about 30 seconds a lifted the stencil and dabbed the whole panel with the paper towel to make sure that I got all of the water off the panel. I ran the panel through my Sizzix Big Shot with the Simon Says Stamp largest Stitched Rectangle die. For the owl, I stamped him Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored him with Copic markers (see below in the supply list for the colors used). I ran him through my Sizzix Big Shot with the second largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circle die and to trim the edge I ran it again with the Stitched Rectangle Die so that I would keep that stitched border. After that I added Glossy Accents to the ballon and set it aside to dry while I worked on the rest of the card. For the sentiment I kept it simple and used happy birthday. For the banners, I used all 3 of the Lawn Fawn Everyday Sentiment Banners. I stamped the sentiment on the green banner and made sure that I staggered the banners coming in the from side. Lastly, I adhered everything using my Tombow tape runner onto an A2 card base. For the envelope, I stamped the small Birthday Owl in Lawn Fawns Mermaid dye ink.

Below is a list of the supplies that I used along with links where you can purchase them! I will be back tomorrow with another project for DeNami’s Sneak Peek Week!

DeNami Design Graduation Owl Card

Hi Everyone!

Graduation season is upon us and I was completely not prepared for it! This card is my favorite kind of card: fast and simple! I wanted to make a card that could be used for kids younger than high school because it is hard to find graduation cards for them.

To make this card, I found some cute pattern paper in my stash that I have had for a while. It came from paper pad from Michaels that had papers for all the seasons of the year. I stamped the owl in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white Copic friendly cardstock and colored him in with Copic markers (see the supplies listed below for the colors used). I stamped the dot circle border around the owl in Lawn Fawns Sunflower die ink and used a scalloped circle paper punch to cut him out. Next, I stamped Congratulations on white cardstock and trimmed it out with with scissors to have a flag end. Lastly, I adhered to an A2 card base. I used my Tombow tape runner for the the pattern paper panel and the sentiment. For the owl, I used Scotch foam tape to add a little dimension to the card. On the envelope, I stamped the owl in the same black ink. I hope that you enjoyed my card and I will be back next week with another card! Below is a list of supplies that I used along with links where you can purchase them.

DeNami Design Baby Shower Card

Elizabeth here with another project for DeNami Design! This week I thought I would pull out one of my original stamps that I first purchased from her! So I pulled out Mom-to-be Mimi. I love this stamp because it is great to use for a baby shower card.

For my card, I stamped Mimi in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with Copic markers. Next, I trimmed her down and found some lavender cardstock that matched adorable glittery button pattern paper that I found in my stash. I cut down the button paper to be the front panel of my card. For the base of my card I decided to to use kraft cardstock instead of the usual white. Also, in my stash I found some green cardstock that matched the button paper. I cut it into a banner and thought it would be cute with Petit Four Baby stamp set. I stamped those in a Spring Rain dye ink from Simon Says Stamp that was just a little darker than the paper. I placed Mimi on the lavender paper and adhered her to the right side of the card and adhered the banner on the left side of card. I hope that you enjoyed my card this week and it inspires you to pull out some of those older stamps that you haven’t used in a while!
