Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. A few weeks ago (more like a month ago) I finally got the MISTI tool that everyone has been raving about! I will be making a set of 5 thank you cards for one of my good friends because she just loves stationery!
I have to say that when I was watching the YouTube videos about the MISTI, I was very excited about all of the possibilities and projects that you could create using this tool. I will be the first to admit that I am not the best at lining my stamps up but I do alright. Since I make multiples of most of my cards, I was excited that I would be able to repeat the same stamp, in the same place every time. Making multiples would be simpler and faster! What I have found is that it is all true. I absolutely love my MISTI and can’t imagine my life without it. I use for almost all of my stamping projects. I have included a video from My Sweet Petunia that explains the MISTI a lot better!
For todays project I am using the Merci stamp set by Mama Elephant. I love this set because the greetings are large and can be the focal point on the card. Mama Elephant has quickly become one of my favorite brands. Unfortunately, right now this is the only set that I own but I will definitely be getting more stamps from them in the future! For the card set, I laid out how I wanted the card to look. With the MISTI tool there is a pad of grid paper that you can use for this purpose. What I love is that once I came up with the final version I can save the paper and create more of these cards in the future! Below you can see the layout that I decided to go with.
The inks that I used in this project are pigment based inks. What that means is that the ink stays on top of the paper and usually needs a few seconds or more to dry. I have a larger collection of pigment based inks which is why I chose to use them. When I designed this layout I used a black pigment ink for the greeting but then I decided to use a grey pigment ink to lighten the design. You can also use dye based inks which will dye the paper. Below is a video from Jennifer McGuire where she uses dye inks with a layering stamp set from Altenew.
The first stamp that I used from the set was the “Merci beaucoup”. I did this because I knew that I wanted the flowers and leaves to overlap my greeting just little bit. Next, I stamped my flowers and then I finished with the leaves. These cards will make a great gift for that person in your life that loves stationery.
I hope that you enjoyed todays project!
