Denami Designs Sneak Peek Day 7!

Day 7

Hi Everyone! Welcome to Day 7 of Denami Designs Sneak Peek Week here on my blog! The theme for today is “You’re One of a Kind”. I always wanted to create a black and white Mother’s Day card and I thought this would be perfect time!

To create this card I used 2 different black and white pattern cardstock and a fine glitter silver cardstock. I used a set of dies from Taylored Expressions for the ban across the front of the card. The sentiment is the new celebrating you sentiment from Denami Design. I just love the simplicity of this card!

Also, there is a great giveaway on Denami’s Facebook page so don’t forget to check it out and enter to win! You can also see the other designers great projects at Denami’s blog!

Mother Card Featuring Taylored Expressions #1

Hello everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! With Mother’s Day on Sunday, I decided to create another Mother card. This one can be used for Mother’s Day, birthday or just because you want to tell your mom that you love her. For this card I am featuring products from Taylored Expressions. I love her designs and the quality of her products. So let’s get started!

I start off by stamping my image on white 110b card stock from Michaels. This paper is from my scraps. I like this stamp because it is great to go on the front of cards and can be the main focus of the card. I stamped the image using Versafine Onyx Black ink. When I am using a sentiment as my focus point I like to use the VersaFine ink because it is a very dark black and provides nice crisp lines when you have fine details like this stamp.

Next, I set this aside to let the ink dry and started die cutting the rest of the pieces using my Sizzix Big Kick machine. First, I cut the light pink quatrefoil piece. Because it is a very delicate piece, and I can be sloppy with glue, I applied Stick It to the back of my pink card stock. Stick It works great with your die cutting machines and dies. I didn’t have any stickiness on my die cutting plate when I removed the piece. Next, I cut the pattern paper to fit behind the quatrefoil piece. The pattern paper is from Hobby Lobby but you can use any pattern that you want.

After this I die cut my sentiment using a bracket frame die that I absolutely love. I colored in the heart with a pink Copic marker. To add some sparkle and shine I went over the heart with my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter brush pen a few times and then used Glossy Accents over that. I love the affect that this makes and the glitter seems to sparkle just a little more. I usually let this dry overnight because I am overly cautious but you should let this dry for about 30 minutes.

Now for the fun part of putting all the pieces together to create your card. I took the backing off of the pink quatrefoil piece and adhered it to the pattern paper. If you don’t get it lined up perfectly just use your craft knife and carefully trim the edges where the pattern paper is over the outside edge of the pink card stock. I wrap grey and white twine twice around the panel I just made and tie a bow. It is helpful to add a little drop of glue being your bow so that it doesn’t move or come untied. Next, I add foam tape to the back of my sentiment and add it to the panel. For the card base I used 110b white card stock from Michaels. I adhered the panel to the card base using my Scotch ATG gun.

Your card is finished and ready to give to your mom for Mother’s Day or her birthday. As always there is list of supplies with links below. I hope that you enjoyed todays project!

Mother’s Day Card featuring Taylored Expressions Window Die and Stamps

It’s never to early to start on card projects for your mom for Mother’s Day! What is great about this card is that you can change sentiment on the front to anything that you want. This card could be a thank you, get well or birthday card. The possibilities are endless. Today I am making a card featuring dies and stamps from Taylored Expressions. All of the products are listed below for you. The card stock that I used is from Michaels but you can use what you have in your stash to change up the colors.

First, I stamped my image onto 100 lb white card stock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the Fiskars Stamp Press. The card stock that I used is scrap from other projects. I always clean my stamp immediately after I am finished using it with a baby wipe. I use inexpensive baby wipes from the grocery store. This will also give your stamped image enough time to dry. I have found that Memento ink does not take long to dry, but because I use Copic makers to color the image, I like to be on the safe side. In the picture below you can see the stamped image colored in and the Copic Sketch Markers that I used. DSC04436

After I finished coloring the image, I set it a side and got out my Sizzix Big Kick to cut out all of my die cut pieces. I wanted to add some texture to the card so for the Lattice background piece I used a piece of white textured card stock from Michaels that is discontinued. If you have a wood grain embossing folder you can emboss the paper first and then run it through with the die. You can see all the die cut pieces in the picture below. Unfortunately in the picture you cannot see the texture in the lattice background piece, but I promise that it is there!DSC04437

Next I did some heat embossing on the kraft tag. I stamped my sentiment with versamark ink on the craft tag and used white detail embossing powder. I have Michaels Recollection brand embossing powder but you can use any white detail embossing powder. I heat set it with my heat embossing tool and below is a picture of my sentiment.

Now comes the fun part of putting it all together to create the card! First, I cut down the purple card stock to fit behind the lattice background piece. To attach the lattice I used Martha Stewart All Purpose Gel Adhesive in small drops. Then I trimmed down my vase image to have a small white border and adhered the window die cut on top of it. Next, adhere the window piece to the lattice using your ATG gun or other runner adhesive and use the 1/4″ foam square adhesive to attach the window shutters to both sides of the window. For the sentiment I used the Scotch foam tape to adhere it below the window. Now attach this to your A2 card base using your ATG gun or other runner adhesive.
