DeNami Design Noah’s Ark Shaker Card

Hi Everyone! Elizabeth here with another fun project for DeNami Designs! Todays project is my absolute favorite kind of project! Shaker Cards! I love making shaker cards! They are so fun and easy to make!

For this shaker card I used a gender neutral plaid from Lawn Fawn’s Perfectly Plaid 6×6 pack, so that this card can be for someone expecting a boy or girl baby, or even twins. I used a frame die from Taylored Expressions Frame in Frame die set to create the shaker frame and kept the inside piece to use as the background in the shaker, that way I’m not wasting any paper! I stamped Congratulations on the background piece in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink. Next, I cut a piece of acetate just slightly smaller than the frame and used a Scor Tape to adhere the acetate to the frame. Then I cut some Scotch foam tape to go around the frame and adhered it the frame making sure that I didn’t leave any gaps in between the foam tape so that the sequins couldn’t escape. I set this aside to work on the ark. I stamped the Noah’s Ark on some white cardstock with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink. I kept the coloring fairly simple with Copic markers. For the zebra, I used a very light grey and very light blue on top of each other and then went over that with the colorless blender to lighten it some more. This gives the effect of some shadow and the zebra still looks white. For the lion, I colored him in a yellow and then for his mane, I used a darker yellow that has hint of orange and brown, and flicked the color on his mane. Next, I fussy cut the ark out and to give it a finished look, I went around the edges, from the back, with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker. By doing this from the back, if I slipped then the black would be on the back of the ark instead of on the front! I adhered the ark to the frame with Scor Tape and Zots Bling Dots. To make the card, I adhered the background to a top folding A2 card base with Tombow tape runner after carefully lining everything up. Next, I lay out my Doodlebug sequins on the card and spread them out over the background. I like to place the frame over the sequins to get an idea of whether or not I need to add more sequins and if so which color. Once I have the right amount of sequins, I carefully line up the frame with the background and adhere the frame to the card base.

I loved making this card! I hope that it inspires you create some shaker cards! Until next time!

DeNami Design: Missing You 3D Frame Card

Hi Everyone! Elizabeth here with another cute card for DeNami Design! This week is about adding some dimension to your cards. For my card I went back to my style of keeping it simple and easy!

The dimension on this card is in the frame. To create my card, I first die cut my frame from Taylored Expressions Frame in Frame die set out of pink paper from the Doodlebug Sugar Shoppe 6×6 pack. I then die cut the frame 3 times out of white cardstock and I made sure that I kept the center piece from one of those pieces to do my stamping on. Next, I stamped the Happy Daisy, Happy Flower Pot and Missing You on the piece that I kept in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink. I kept the coloring simple for the flower and pot and did no shading Copic coloring (see supplies list below for colors). So that the flower and pot weren’t just floating around on the panel, I anchored them by coloring some grey across the bottom and some shading for the pot and flower. I set this aside while I worked on the rest of the card. I trimmed my pattern paper from the same Doodlebug pack down to 4”x5.25” and adhered that to a top folding A2 card base using Tombow runner. Next, I adhered all the frames together using Tombow liquid glue and stacking them on top of each other with the pink one on top. The 3D frame is adhered to the flower pattern paper using liquid glue. Next, I added some liquid glue to back of the panel with the pot and flower and placed it inside the frame. I like to use liquid glue for this so that I can shift it around a little bit before it dries. The key is to put on a small amount of glue, otherwise your cardstock will warp. To finish the card, I used a Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen and added some glitter to the flower. I tried to get a good picture with the sparkle but it’s very hard to capture that sparkle! I hope that my card inspires you to add some dimension to your cards! Until next time!

DeNami Design Monster Birthday Card

Hi Everyone!

I always feel like birthday cards for boys are little harder than ones for girls. This week I made a birthday card for boys using Happy Monster Party and layering 2 border stamps to create my background. I have to say that this one of my favorite boy birthday cards that I have created!

hbd-1610-1

To create the background, I used the Three Line Border and Stitched Border stamps to create a fun plaid background. The colors for background are Sunflower, Love Letter, Summer Sky, and Freshly Cut Grass dye inks. I chose the colors to coordinate with the monsters. The monsters were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored in with Copic markers. Next, I cut out the frame using the Frame in Frame die set from Taylored Expressions and the monsters using the same die. The die creates both a frame and the panel so I used both the panel piece for the monsters and the frame that it cut out of the white cardstock. I ran the die through again with the red polka dot pattern paper to create the red frame. Next, I adhered the red frame using Tombow Liquid Glue to the white cardstock frame to add a little dimension. To assemble the card, I adhered the plaid panel on my base and then my frame at an angle on top of that. Last, I placed the monsters in the frame with some Tombow Permanent Tape Runner.

I think this card is so cute and fun to give to a boy for his birthday! I hope that you enjoyed my card today!

DeNami Design Spring Birthday Shaker Card!

Spring is finally here! Yeah! April showers are here and the flowers are starting to bloom, well if you don’t have deer like I do! Haha! For this weeks project the theme is spring and I have been wanting to do a shaker card for a while now and I thought why not now?! Not only is this card a shaker card but I also did watercolor for the card.

hbd-1609-1

To make my card I created my watercolor panel first. To create watercolor panel I used Distress Ink in three colors, which are listed below in the supplies. Next, I die cut the panel with a frame die from Taylored Expressions that creates a frame and the main panel. I stamped happy birthday in Versafine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. For the flowers and bugs, I used the Flower Patch and Bitty Bugs stamp sets. I used Lawn Fawns Hippo die ink so that it would be soft on the background. Next, attach the acetate to the frame and then attached Scotch foam adhesive around the frame. After that, I attached the back panel to the card base with a Tombow Extreme Tape Runner and then placed my shaker bits  on the back panel. For my shaker bits I used a selection that I had picked up my local Michaels. Last, I placed I attached the shaker window to the card base making sure that everything was lined up perfectly.

Creating this gift tag is fast and simple! I stamped the happy monster with balloons on white cardstock and colored him in with Copic markers. To add a little dimension along with sparkle and shine I used Pico Embellisher in Shimmer on the balloon. Gift tag base was created using blue cardstock and the Taylored Expressions Scalloped Notecard die.
The pattern was created using the the balloons from the Birthday Celebration set from DeNami using blue and green die ink. Supplies will be listed below along with links where you can purchase them. DeNami Design Easter Basket Card

Spring is coming soon! I personally can’t wait for the warm weather and the flowers to start blooming. Spring also means that Easter will be here soon which is this weeks DeNami Design Team theme. I thought to myself that I wanted to do something different for my Easter project this week. So I made and Easter Basket card!

I used the Taylored Expressions wicker pocket die that creates a small basket and when you cut 2 out you can adhere them together to make a card that is basket shaped and you can insert a little tag or card into. For the flower pattern paper I used Doodlebugs may flowers paper to cut out my 2 pieces of the basket. The Doodlebug paper that I used is discontinued but you can use any pattern paper that you like. To create the  insert I used the 2 smallest dies  from Taylored Expressions label stacklets 2 set and stamped the adorable Bunny and Easter Eggs on white cardstock. To stamp the greeting I used the Small Happy Easter stamp and inked “Happy” first and stamped it and did the same thing for “Easter” and stamped it below “Happy”. I kept the coloring simple and did no shading Copic coloring. To add a little glitter shine I used Pico Embellisher on the Easter eggs, which also add a little dimension. On the bunny I added a little detail by using a white gel pen to add white to his eyes and three little white dots on his cheeks.

Below is a list of supplies I used, along with links where you can purchase them. Enjoy!

Denami Designs Sneak Peek Day 7!

Day 7

Hi Everyone! Welcome to Day 7 of Denami Designs Sneak Peek Week here on my blog! The theme for today is “You’re One of a Kind”. I always wanted to create a black and white Mother’s Day card and I thought this would be perfect time!

To create this card I used 2 different black and white pattern cardstock and a fine glitter silver cardstock. I used a set of dies from Taylored Expressions for the ban across the front of the card. The sentiment is the new celebrating you sentiment from Denami Design. I just love the simplicity of this card!

Denami Designs Sneak Peek Day 6!

Day 6

Hello Everyone! Welcome to my blog and Day 6 of the Denami Designs Sneak Peek Week. Todays theme is Sports Owls. I have to admit that I struggled with this one a little bit! I knew I wanted to do something different and not a card.

So, I created a pillow box that you could put gift card in or some treats! To create the pillow box used the pillow box die from Lawn Fawn and paper from one of my favorite companies, Doodlebug Designs. I used the new baseball owl stamp and the small happy birthday stamp from Denami Designs. I punched out the owl using a 2″ scalloped punch.

Denami Design Sneak Peek Day 5!

Day 5

Hi Everyone! Welcome back to my blog and Day 5 of Denami Designs Sneak Peek Week. It’s hard to believe that it has been 5 days already! Time flies when you are having fun! The theme for todays sneak peek is “Somebunny Loves You”.

I decided that I wanted to create a scene using the new bunny stamps and the stump from the woodlands logs set. The flower pattern paper is from Doodlebug Designs and I used a die from Taylored Expressions for the scene panel. To line everything up I used my MISTI. It works great every time! To see how I created this card, please click on the link below and watch on my YouTube channel. Newton’s Nook Inky Paws Challenge #22 – Birthday

Hi everyone! One of my favorite companies, Newton’s Nook, is having another Inky Paws Challenge! The theme of the challenge is birthday, which is perfect since I only have 2 birthday sets from them. My goal is to have all the cute cat sets but for now I just have 2.

IPC_22_Bday

I decided for the challenge to utilize both of my sets which are Birthday Bash and Birthday Flutter. Also, I used a die set from Taylored Expressions called Color Block Cutting Plate. This die set comes with 11 dies! Don’t let the number scare you! I only used 3 of the dies from the set; the large main die and 2 of the smaller dies.

il_fullxfull.796160610_bsq2-2

To make the card I ran the large main die through my Sizzix Big Kick twice, once with yellow card stock and once with Copic quality card stock. Then I used the scallop die with green paper and the smaller die with white card stock. I stamped my images using Memento Black Ink and colored them with Copic markers. For the balloons, I stamped several balloons onto Post-it Tape and cut them out to create masks. I used the masks to create the layers look of the balloons. Also, I used my clear Wink of Stella Marker to add some sparkle to the balloons. Unfortunately, you can’t see it in the picture but I promise it is there! To stamp the greeting, I used Versafine Black ink because it makes a nice crisp impression. Assembling the card is the easy part! First, I adhered the yellow frame to my white card base using my Zig Glue Pen. Be careful that everything is straight so that your pieces will fit in their spots. Next, I adhered all the pieces into the their spots using my ATG gun.

I loved making this card! I hope that it inspires you to combine stamp sets together and even companies together to create awesome cards!
